The Pharmaceutical Quality by Design Principal (QbD) is adaptable to packaging development processes for perishable items. These scientific processes eliminate many problems associated with the conventional trial-and-error method of packaging selection that either end up in overpackaging or lead to product stability failures and filing delays.

In this presentation, Liveo Research's Senior Vice President, Global Research & Development, Ajith Nair, will discuss this principle and explain product shelf life under different storage and exposure conditions. He'll also cover how this science and risk-based process has proven to be a significant advantage over the conventional testing-based process and how it achieves the best and consistent results at the lowest cost with minimal resources.

Nair has dedicated the last two decades of his 30 years of industrial research experience to developing innovative methods that improve drug stability, efficacy, and consumer safety. He has done extensive work on extending the FDA-recommended QbD Process to the drug-stabilization process and developing innovative packaging.

Nair invented the first scientific packaging development and sensitivity profiling method for solid oral drugs, Liveo Optima.

In addition to holding many patents, he established and managed R&D centers conducting research in the drug stabilization process. These centers focus on providing packaging research services to the pharmaceutical industry.
