Congratulations to our 2023 honorees!

Our 2023 winners are deserving members who continue volunteering extended time and energy to further IoPP goals and initiatives. This year, we are excited to welcome two new members into the College of Fellows and recognize one member as a Rising Leader within the packaging industry. 


College of Fellows Inductees

Christina Kurtz | IoPP member since 1997

With 25 years of dedicated service at Arkema as the regulations and packaging manager, Christina has been a pivotal force in shaping industry standards. 

She has contributed heavily to the IoPP Chemical Packaging Committee's success, previously serving as secretary/treasurer, vice chair, and chair. Her current position as executive subcommittee chairperson, held since 2021, showcases her commitment and expertise. 

Her influential role in the IoPP Chemical Packaging Committee, culminating in her current position as the executive subcommittee chairperson since 2021, showcases her commitment and expertise. In addition to her active participation with IoPP, Christina is a Dangerous Goods Advisory Council board member.

Michael Scheel, CPPL | IoPP member since 1986

Michael is a seasoned veteran with 37 years in the packaging industry and earned his lifetime Certified Packaging Professional designation in 2004. 
He's spent the last 26 years of his career at Mercury Marine, overseeing their returnable/reusable packaging programs as the senior category packaging manager.

His dedication to the industry is further exemplified through his numerous leadership roles within IoPP Chapters. Michael played a pivotal role in merging the Fox Valley and Wisconsin chapters. He is the current president of the Wisconsin Chapter.

Rising Leader

James Naze | IoPP member since 2008

James has over 25 years of packaging experience and earned his Rising Leader nomination because of his active advocacy work within the association and beyond.

James has held numerous positions in the IoPP New England Chapter and is currently president. During the pandemic, he kept the chapter active and engaged online. James frequently meets with IoPP regional vice presidents and other chapter leaders post-pandemic to share membership retention and growth ideas. 

James, a senior packaging engineer at Boston Scientific, has provided valuable insight as a longtime member of the IoPP Medical Device Packaging Technical Committee. His continued involvement with IoPP highlights a deep commitment to the packaging industry.
